Untitled series of beauties reflected in mirrors

This
series of fan prints (uchiwa)
shows beautiful young women in a state of dishabille at their toilette in
front of mirrors, with the mirror’s corners partly concealed with cloth
covers. The series is not listed in Kuniyoshi by Basil William Robinson
(Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1961).
Each print bears the seal of the censor Tanaka (田中), dating them between the first month of 1844 and
the second month of 1845. |
